Ask your client to write her background information to the end-user guide and background info sheet.

Download end-user guide and background info sheet to give to your client.

Guide your client to wear the Fibion Device in the front pocket of trousers or on the leg with the leg strap in front of thigh. Wearing the Fibion Device on side of thigh reduces the accuracy of sitting and activity class idetification.

Guide your client to wear the Device for 7 days, 14-15 hours a day excluding sleeping time, resulting in best accuracy. However, it is possible to generate Fibion report from a minimum of 8 hours of data from one day. If worn during sleeping, some of the light sleep time may be classified as sitting time and thus reduce the analysis accuracy. Do not wear the Device in water or shower

1. Keep it clean and dry

Regularly clean your Fibion Device, especially after working out and sweating. To clean your Fibion Device, do not use household cleansers. Instead, use a soft towel. For tough spots or stains, scrub with a wet, soft-bristled toothbrush.

The Fibion Device is not waterproof. If your Fibion Device gets wet—like after sweating—dry it thoroughly before putting it back in your pocket or thigh strap.

2. Give your Leg a Rest when Using the Thigh Strap

Ensure that the band isn’t too tight when you are using the thigh strap for a longer period of time. Prolonged rubbing and pressure may irritate the skin, so give your leg a break by removing the thigh strap during the night, unless you are instructed otherwise by a medically trained professional.

If you have eczema, allergies or asthma, you may be more likely to experience a skin irritation or allergy from the thigh strap. Whether you have the conditions above or not, if you start to experience redness or skin irritation on your leg, remove your Fibion Device. If symptoms persist longer than two to three days of not using your Fibion Device, contact a dermatologist.

3. Wash the Thigh Strap and Pouches regularly

Hand wash the strap and pouches in lukewarm water. Use only mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly and drip dry only.

1. Fibion Upload does not accept a data file

a) Fix an occasional data issue (Fibion Data Fixer)

If you encounter an occasional issue with a data file, Fibion Data Fixer can be used to attempt to automatically fix the data file.

Fibion Data Fixer includes a set of tools that can be set on/off and utilized to repair and manipulate the data files. Sign in with your Fibion Code. The fixed data file is downloaded automatically as the data processing is completed.

  • Repair common issues (default)
    • A general tool that fixes previously encountered data errors. The tool locates and fixes the errors automatically. It is recommended to leave this tool on if the other tools are also used. Experienced users can set the tool off when applicable to save time.
  • Timeline correction tool
    • A tool for experienced users that shifts the entire timeline of the data. The tool asks the user to enter a timestamp (ISO 8601) that is used as the starting point of the corrected timeline.
  • Sleep hours removal tool
    • A tool for experienced users that removes sleep hours from 24/7 measured data files. The tool asks the user to enter typical points in time in which the measured person goes to sleep as well as wakes up and removes the hours in between from all the days included in the data.

The data files processed by Fibion Data Fixer fix should be accepted by Fibion Upload.

b) Fix systematic data issues (Windows Time format)

If you are using Fibion Standalone Tool on Windows and Fibion Upload rejects all your data files, the typical scenario is that the current date and time settings of Windows are incompatible with Fibion Standalone Tool.

To fix the issue, change the date and time format of Windows as follows:

  • Long time: H:mm:ss

Further instructions on how to change the settings can be found by following this link.

If you are using a work computer, you may need to contact your IT support to change the settings.

The data files created after the fix should be accepted by Fibion Upload.

1. Why Fibion is better than consumer trackers?

The Fibion Device measures sitting and physical activity based on accurate accelerometer technology.

The main difference to wrist- or waist-worn consumer trackers is its placement. Fibion is worn on the thigh, which means that it can compared to other trackers accurately and reliably detect and differentiate periods of sitting, standing and cycling among other activity types based on the position and movement of the thigh.

2. How accurate is Fibion?

When worn in a thigh strap, Fibion measures 100% of the time spent sitting, and 97,9% of the time spent standing correctly.

When worn in the front pocket of trousers, Fibion measures 92,5% of the time spent sitting and 100% of the time spent standing correctly.

Across all activity types it detects, Fibion measures 97% of the time correctly when worn in a thigh strap and 92,8% correctly when worn in the front pocket. Because of the accurate recognition of different activity types, the estimated energy expenditure is only 0,8% below that of directly measured energy expenditure. These features make Fibion the most accurate sitting and physical activity measuring device on the market.

3. What are the Fibion Recommendations based on?

The Fibion Recommendations and Fibion Points are based on scientific research conducted at the Department of Biology of Physical Activity, University of Jyväskylä, Finland, as well as on hundreds of population-based studies including tens of thousands of participants.

The Fibion Report interprets health risks and benefits of sitting and physical activity using scientific data and the given background information of the individual wearing Fibion. The results are given in respect to comparable data from scientific research.
